Last night I cooked this cake,a variation on my favourite traybake recipe, easy to make and feeds many!
I added cocoa this time, which much to my 5 year old's amusement covered the kitchen in a plume of brown 'smoke' when I spooned it into the mixer! I had accidentally left it on high speed! My daughter and I pressed stoned cherries and blackberries from the garden into the firm batter and enjoyed it warm for puds.
I love this time of year, kids relaxed after a few weeks off school, and the garden damp but yielding! With blackberries tumbling over the fence, beans growing inches in a day, and courgettes that bolt to marrows if you miss your daily visit to the veg patch! Well worth a dash out in the rain for ingredients for supper and pud!
I hope that you enjoy this recipe as much as my 'little bear' did! Of and of course I brought some in for the Blake & Bull boys this morning!
