We have had some lovely New Year mail that made our spirits rise, just as well as Ruth's bread!
Thank you Ruth for your kind words and pictures, this is exactly why we choose to sell what we do, and why we do what we do!
"Thank you for the amazing service in sending the cloche I ordered so quickly and by tracked delivery. I couldn't believe how quickly my order was processed. The touch of the sweets in the wrapping in the box was lovely.
I bought the cloche, on behalf of my parents, as a Christmas present for me. I'm a keen bread maker and read on your site that the baking cloche can help make great loaves. I include pictures of the first loaf I baked with the cloche - on Christmas Day (I was keen to try it!) - a sourdough loaf. The crust and crumb were amazing. You can get an idea from the pictures below.
Subsequent loaves have been equally good: great crust and crumb.
Many thanks, and happy New Year, from a very happy customer." Ruth, Jan 2019
The Techy Bit! Here's why we love it too! -
This is a extraordinary piece of bakeware for making extraordinary bread. The bell dome retains the steam and improves the crust on all loaves, particularly sourdough, making it golden and crackly. The 'crumb' is also lighter.
It is pre-seasoned (with edible natural flax oil) 2mm thick iron which means great heat retention, superb even baking and no soggy bottoms! This is not a lightweight piece of kitchen equipment, together it weighs 1.77kg plus whatever you are baking. The tray diameter is 31cm. The height of bell and tray to the top of the knob is 19cm. The height inside the bell 16cm.
