Yorkshire Puddings


Recipe Name:  Yorkshire Pudding Recipe with Instructions for Aga Range Cookers

Servings: Makes 12 individual puddings or 8 large Yorkshire puddings.


Yes, we know you can buy some pretty good Yorkshire puddings from the shops, but these are so straightforward to make you’ll be asking yourself why you never tried to before now! They’re also absolutely delectable.

You'll need...


  • 2 eggs
  • 110g/4 oz. plain flour 
  • 1/2 pint (330ml) milk
  • Pinch of salt 
  • 3 tbsp. sunflower oil or dripping
  • Method:

    1. Put the plain shelf into the roasting oven on the 3rd runners.

    2. Put a little oil into each hole of a large muffin tin and set it on top of the plain shelf in the oven. 

    3. Put the eggs, salt and flour into a wide jug and mix to a paste. Add the milk a little at a time, whisking until it is all incorporated.

    4. Pour the batter into the hot tin and bake on top of the heated shelf for about 15 minutes.

    5. Cook your puddings before you roast your joint, when the oven is at its hottest, then leave them to cool and reheat before serving.

    Aga Range Cooker Tips:

    • Putting the plain shelf into the roasting oven before cooking the puddings raises the temperature above the shelf, trapping the hot air at the top of the oven. 
    • Cook in the roasting oven, 220C, 450F or Gas 7. 
    • Prepare in advance, just cook your batter and leave the puddings to cool and then reheat for 5 minutes before serving. You can also freeze them, just pop them in the roasting oven for 10 minutes before you serve up.
