Whenever I try and post more technical stuff or demonstrate practical skills I get lots of gentle abuse for being boring so I thought I'd get the 'cute dog with Aga range cooker' pic out the way first below. If that is all you are after you can skip the rest and go buy something ;)
This cooker was a big job. Lots of preparation, lots of travel and lots of work! Very pleased though with the way it looked when done and the customers, hi Mr & Mrs R!, seemed delighted!
The two pictures below show the cooker before we started. The warming plate is very stained and the hob (big black flat bit!) very worn after 40 odd years of service. This is the quite rare 'one piece' model with no join between cupboard top and main hob. It's a big piece of metal to shift!
Once we had wrestled the hob off we could see how poor the insulation had been.
First step is to top up the vermiculite.
Now for an upgraded superwool top blanket - super efficient!
The doors are renovated which includes new insulation, new liners and stripped edges. In the pic below we are grinding them back to shiny metal to finish things beautifully.
After all that hard work you can see the results below...
