This is a pre-74 4 oven 'Deluxe' cooker with a one piece hob. The gas conversion, done many many years ago!, has the gas supply pipes running outside the cooker covered by a black box. You can see this unsightly monstrosity below the lower oven! We are going to reenamel this cooker, replace every part of the gas system and move that supply behind the front panel of the cooker where it should be! Gulp...
This is a cooker that has worked hard - this is the surface of the hob and the undersides of the lids.
At this point the newly re-enamelled cream front is on the cooker. There is a badge on it but as its a copyright we have removed it digitally; we can't show the logo. You can see no trace of gas pipes below the oven and the new burner unit is in. We've moved the supply pipe just behind the enamel front and it pops upward to join the gas valve just below it as with most gas cookers.
Compare and contrast! This is the new enamel, new lids and it's looking suer shiny!
Here is the full effect, again with badge digitally removed. Every part of this cooker has been re-enamelled externally, a new gas valve fitted and the supply moved. Its been a long day for Philip at this point and he still has to get the ferry and drive home to Wiltshire! Nevertheless this was a super satisfying job - a cooker that is likely 60 odd years old and ready for the next 60 - seriously!
