Sarah in Devon (hi!) had bought this cooker 4 years ago second hand but never quite got around to installing it! We reassembled it yesterday and converted it to our 'Electrikit' at the same time. We arrived to a pile of bits and left behind a functioning lovely golden yellow cooker! Not entirely normal but very satisfying. There is more info on each pic and as always we have digitally removed the badge as it's a trademark.
On the left was the cooker 4 years ago and on the right the sorry state it had sunk to in the garage! Enter Philip the Blake & Bull wizard!
All the parts we are going to need are laid out neatly here and the basic structure of the cooker is visible rear left. The base plate is in, side panels and rear panels along with the insulation base that goes under the ovens.
The ovens are assembled! You can see two spirit levels in this pic - got to make sure its level! These oven castings are shot blasted refurbished ones that we have brought with us. Other than the electric system they are the only refurbished cast iron parts we used. The new aluminium shiny 'tunnels' have already been attached. These join the oven castings to the front plate. No loose vermiculite insulation is used in our conversion. Everything that needs it is hand insulated with high performance mineral wool.
The front is on, love this colour (its golden yellow in case you are wondering!). Again you can see spirit levels to keep an eye on the alignments and the control box for the 'Electrikit' is visible. The two dials control the hotplates (from off '0' to max '8') and the digital controller to their left controls the top oven temp highly accurately.
Finished and with some of our 'Hare today' hob covers too! The enamel was in very good condition really - a good purchase all those years ago!
