Heavy Duty Cleaning Kit £19.80 with Chrome Cleaner £26.60 (Heavy Duty Kit comes as part of our famous DIY Mini-Refurb kit)
Next up, cleaning kits! Possibly the most visually impactful job you can do, and best done in the summer months when your cookers is off so that you can get really stuck in. If attempting it when your cooker is on, follow Matthew's tip,but you will get the best results and be safer (no burns) when the cooker is cool!
This is Tuesday's photo after she cleaned her cooker this summer -
"Absolutely fab, order the heavy duty cleaning kit Sunday night, arrived Tuesday, and extremely pleased with the result after a thorough clean!!" A Tuesday delivery for Tuesday!
"New lid seals look great and prevent contact heat transfer into the lid assembly which can allow heat from your cooker to bypass the insulation in the lids." Matthew
These springy seals are super easy to replace and come with glue too! They also come as part of our larger kits. All you need to do is pry your old flattened expired seal off, clean away any old glue with a scraper or small wire brush (careful not to scratch your liner) and glue into place. The springiness comes from the encasing wire mesh, which makes the seal last longer and perform better.
These tasks are a bit more labour intensive, but you will save cash buying seals, pads, and liners as part of a kit.
If your lids are too hot to the touch, and you are finding that textile hob covers are scorching on them then your insulation is failing. And that means that you are paying for heat that is, simply put, escaping. This in turn makes your hotplates less hot.
If you are carrying out work on your lids, you might want to spruce up your hinges, or if you have scrubbed up the enamel on your Standard, make your ash pit door open smoothly with a shiny new pin!
1.Ash Pit Door Pin £10.80 2.Circlips x 6 £1.40 3.Grub Screw (M6) x 6 £1.40 4.Post '95 Lid Adjusting Pin £5.49 5.Lid Hinge Pin £8.20 6.Grub Screws (1/4") x 6 £1.40 7.NEW complete post '95 Lid Hinge Pin Kit £34.80
Now onto the meaty tasks, this is the whole shebang, the most cost effective way to buy all that I have talked out here, and will take you a little time. BUT they will have the most impact on your fuel bills!
If you are doing a Mini Refurb then you might as well go the 'whole hog' and do your insulation as well, and the cherry on the cake? ... new chromes. Our Mini Refurb Kit has the option to add the door & lid insulation pads. If you want to lift your lid, and update the internal insulation then you will need this kit too.
Whatever task you are considering undertaking as part of your switch off and spruce up,rest assured that we always provide instructions, have lots of visual guides, and often have a friendly engineer on site to help over the phone too!
There is a small list too of finishing flourishes!
