If you are one of the 44% who switch off for summer then you might be thinking about how you can make your range cheaper to run next season.
Upgrading your insulation is the task that has the most impact on both your fuel bills and usability too! Mr C and Mr H reduced their external temps by an average 18℃!
Is your range cooker running too hot? If you struggle to touch your cooker, then your insulation is almost certainly the cause. The heat that you can feel, should be in your ovens! Lets look at how to keep it there!
This is Jane's lovely cooker from a couple of weeks ago, who can forget Archie!? Philip revealed aged rockwool with many pesky air gaps when he removed the top. These air gaps allow heat to escape away from the heat source through to the top, evading the ovens entirely and making your hob too hot to handle!
Once the degraded rockwool is carefully removed the shiny natural vermiculite insulatoris exposed, this needs levelling to ensure that any air gaps out of site are dissipated, it is then topped up and levelled out again.
At this stage a 50mm deep mineral fibre snuggly blanket is tucked tight in the top.The dense fibres have much better longevity than rockwool and because it is cut to size, it fills edge to edge.
Happy news! This is a job you can do yourselves! For best results combine this insulation kit with door and lid insulation and seals.
