Christine, regular contributor to our growing Blake & Bull guide to baking in an Aga range cooker sent in this fab little tip for soft bread baps (recipe to follow) ..
Soft bread baps store well in the freezer, and are great for making a quick lunch when you have run out of ideas or are caught 'on the hop!'. Christine used her cold shelf to cook these toasty baps, and finished them off by dropping the tray to the oven floor.
Christine's says - "I like making baps as they freeze very well and quickly defrost if put in a clean tea towel onto one of the hob tops under a hob cover."
Always keep a keen eye on your bread if you do it this way, but if you pop them in-between two hob covers, or a t-towel as Christine suggests, then 'pootle' about sorting the filling and a mug of tea, they should be done when you are!
So chuffed too to see Jess's efforts. Jess made her first ever loaf, using Christine's tips and recipe, and we think it looks crunchily delicious! Watch this space next week for a savoury and sweet bun recipe!
