We are a company with a social conscience so when Ole from Denmark got in touch recently with a problem we swung into action. Along with an order from Blake & Bull two cases of emergency supplies are currently winging their way to a deprived nation via DHL.
Now some might say Fortnum & Mason marmalade is not an essential item but we'd have to disagree. Ole has got very used to proper marmalade on his toast and when that fine retailer recently stopped despatching to Denmark he was distraught. Denmark does many things well. Pickled herring, bridges and pillaging for example. Sadly that basic tenet of civilisation, marmalade, is not among them.
I'm glad we're the kind of company Ole felt he could approach with such a problem and I'm glad we are the kind of company that would say yes. That said we won't be doing it again sorry, despatching marmalade via air freight with a Yorkshire pudding tray has not been without complications post Brexit!
