From flood damaged cream to black! | A Standard Aga range cooker re-enamelled & converted to electricity

Last week for Mr Jones we created these spectacular results by re-enamelling & converting his cooker! From flood damaged cream to a perfect converted black Aga cooker in one day (plus a LOT of preparation of course 😉). There is more info with each pic but don't miss his full review too. "The whole process, despite lockdown, was seamless: an abundance of information, reading and video links to relevant and pertinent information... In short, we’re delighted with the whole experience and have no hesitation in recommending Blake & Bull to all."

More info with each pic on what we do and how. The logo is blurred as its a trademark so we cannot show it! One of my favourite reviews of all time. We aim to make EVERY customer this happy. 🙃

Cream Aga range cooker vintage

This is a 'Standard' model cooker in classic cream that was running on oil when it was damaged in a flood. Katy worked with Mr Jones to get everything scheduled and after a short COVID delay we swooped in last week. On site were Joel and Preet. Joel leads the work and Preet is in training,. He will lead his own team from the end of January 2021!

We have re-enamelled in black which of course includes the top and lids. The warming plate (on top left section) is our hard anodised upgraded version. The control door is open in this pic so you can see the 3 control dials and the digital display. Two dials control the hotplates. From cold they are at a useful temp in 20 mins and at max in 40 mins. You can leave them on of course if you choose but the running cost savings if you can get used to the warm up are huge, easily into 4 figs a year! The digital display shows the current oven air temp and you can adjust the target temp via two arrow buttons. All very simple!

One of our fleet of lovely grey VW vans. We buy the best vans available new so that our chaps (they are all chaps on site for now!) turn up rested and able to give your job the attention it deserves. No rusty old bangers for Blake & Bull! The side canopy gives a sheltered place to work and unload. Dry in the winter, shaded in the summer!

Insulation going in for the warming ovens. No vermiculite in a converted cooker. Everything is carefully hand lagged with high performance insulation for super efficiency!

The finished article with doors and lids open. As so often we have installed our grey non-stick liners on all door liners and the lids. Sleek!

And with doors and lids closed. The deep gloss black with that incredible splash back is a deeply satisfying look! Here is Mr Jones full review!

"You know that feeling when a company surpasses your expectations? Yes, its rare but when it happens it’s a definite feel good factor and it happens with Blake & Bull. The whole process, despite lockdown, was seamless: an abundance of information, reading and video links to relevant and pertinent information. And if that is not enough, Matthew or Katy are there to answer your questions.
With a 1953 4-door that had been subjected to a flood, we need a deep clean, conversion to electricity from a compromised oil system, and re-enamelling for good measure. The lockdown meant that our Aga would not be returned for an extra 3 months but, somehow, the Blake & Bull team turned it around 2 months ahead of time.
The dismantling and re-installation process was equally seamless: Joel & Preet - the dream team by training being schooled as electrician and heating engineer respectively – carefully took our Aga apart and brought her back looking like new. They bring mats and covers to ensure the site is kept clean and the final result is amazing. The ovens can be turned off for the summer while keeping the hot plates alive. Even these can be turned off and brought up to useful temperature in 20 minutes, 40 for full heat.
In short, we’re delighted with the whole experience and have no hesitation in recommending Blake & Bull to all."
