'Cakes are definitely better!' ..'hard to imagine that anyone else could have done a better job.' These are the kind of words that inspire a big communal whoop from the HQ team at Blake & Bull. Thank you Jacqui!
Jacqui invited us to restore and convert this sweet 2 oven post '74 that she inherited with a move. We adore the brick surround which is flanked by characterful wooden beams.
Anthony faced quite the challenge with the dismantle {no half measures here, we rebuild from the base plate} when the walls on the fringe of this OIL Aga crumbled and collapsed once the security of the Aga bulk was temporarily removed.
'We are very happy with the Aga. It looks brand new, and although it has taken a bit of getting used to with the electric conversion, I am enjoying the fact that the ovens are adjustable in temperature. Cakes are definitely better! We're still getting used to the fact that the Aga is not gushing out as much heat as before, so the kitchen is a bit chilly, but I guess that is the point really.
Anthony was fantastic! We couldn't believe he did such a great job, with real attention to detail and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards! Considering the work involved, it was also amazing to get the whole thing completed in less than a day. We are very glad that we switched to Blake and Bull to get this done. It is hard to imagine that anyone else could have done a better job.' Jacqui
psst! Badge digitally removed, its a trademark after all! but thats ALL we remove, the cooking residue is painstakingly removed by hand!
We love hearing about 'better cakes',our clients regularly tell us that they have had the best bakes ever from their converted Aga range cooker!
We asked Lousie {@louiselovescakes} for her top tip for baking in a converted Aga range cooker - remember its still radiant cast iron cooking!. Here is one of her many fabulous cakes!
'The Aga { a Blake & Bull renewed Aga range cooker} will be set to 180 degrees and will be put on at least 3 hours before I plan to cook to ensure an even heat distribution. A shelf runner will be put on the 3rd rung down. I’ll put both sponge tins in on the same shelf at the same time for 20 minutes. After this I’ll open the oven and place the cold shelf in just under the cake tins and bake for a further 10-15 minutes.' Louise
