Converted Aga cookers still look, cook and feel like an Aga cooker

Upgrade your Aga cooker with the flexibility brand new at a fraction of the cost. Save money on fuel bills & servicing. Reduce carbon emissions by up to 93% by converting your Aga cooker to electricity.

We've led the rush to electric for 10 years, a third of all Aga cookers run on electric now. We convert hundreds more every year.

We dismantle your cooker and install the Electrickit or eControl system, we're independent and will help you choose. We have never installed single element '13amp' systems and never will. Here is why!

Electric converted Aga cookers cook in the same way using radiant heat from the original cast iron ovens. Elements where the heat is needed mean independently controlled ovens and hotplates.

In summer use a single hotplate for a stir fry, then turn off. In winter leave the ovens on for warmth. You have control of convenience vs cost.

Why convert your Aga?

  • Reduce fuel bills. There is no cheaper way to run an Aga cooker.
  • Reduce carbon emissions. You don't need solar panels to go green, the UK grid is doing it for you!
  • No servicing costs, at all.
  • No infrastructure costs. No flues, fuel lines or oil tanks to maintain.
  • Optional 5 year parts & labour warranty for complete peace of mind.
  • Still cooks the same way.
  • Still gives heat to the room, its up to you how much!
  • No fire, fuel leak or carbon monoxide risks.
  • No flue needed.
  • Cooks better, ovens do not lose heat under pressure!
  • Cooker can be moved within your house at no charge as part of conversion.

Which Aga cookers can be converted to electricity?

  • 2,3,4 & 5 oven Aga cookers can all be converted to electricity.
  • Standard, pre-1974 and post 1974 Deluxe Aga cookers can all be converted to electricity.
  • Solid fuel, oil, gas and 13amp cookers can all be converted.

How much can I save Converting my Aga?

Multi element systems like Electrickit and eControl are the cheapest to run.

The enormous carbon cost of 'fossil' cooker is clear. Running an electric Aga cooker is twice as sustainable than it was as recently as 2012. By 2035 your cooker will be 100% sustainable and running on carbon free electricity. Find out more.

How much does it cost to convert?

Electric conversion is almost always combined with a deep clean and upgradeor re-enamelling. Save £1000 on the combined cost when conversion and re-enamelling are booked together. We only have to attend, dismantle and rebuild once! Choose from 65 colours.

Add your extended 5 year Blake & Bull warranty or optional extras. We can relocate Aga cookers within the same property at no extra charge when converting.

Asbestos safe waste disposal (older Aga cookers do often contain asbestos) is included in our costs. We hate when trades leave piles of rubbish and packaging for you to dispose of at the tip. We take everything with us!

Also included with every Aga conversion is our exclusive 'quick start' guide and unlimited support and advice from Matthew and the team. We want you to be happy (buying accessories and cookwares from Blake & Bull!) for the long term.

Will Greenwood MBE

Will grew up in Blackburn and had no idea what an Aga was, apart from when he went to visit his farming mates. Fast forward to he and Caro buying their house in Maidenhead fourteen years ago which came with a gas Aga range cooker. He was converted by the gas stove and is now a huge fan of the electric version.

“I quickly grew to love the aga range cooker and the electric conversion takes it to another level. We can just turn it off when we walk out of the door, adjust it depending on what we need and crank it up to cooking heat within ten minutes.

As with most Blake & Bull clients, the Aga range cooker is at the heart of the Greenwood’s home. Their rescue dogs – Bueller, Maud and Bear – snooze in their beds by the warming oven, Will’s shirts dry over it and the children’s underwear hangs on it before school.

“Warm pants and socks on the Aga! What a luxury. I love leaning up against it with a cup of tea.”

The Blake & Bull® Showroom

How you do one thing is how you do everything. Our showroom is a demonstration of our commitment to quality. Converted Aga cookers, antiques, good coffee and croissants warming. There is no better way to chat Aga electric conversions.

Heat to the room

Our electric Aga range cookers give as much heat, or as little, as you'd like into your kitchen.

Blake & Bull founder Mattthews cooker normally goes off after supper but cools slowly keeping the kitchen warm into the morning AND drying a load of washing. It goes back on when he makes his morning coffee and keeps the ground floor of the house warm all day. A cold conventional cooker it is not!

Combine Aga conversion with Re-enamelling

Combine your electric Aga conversion with a re-enamel. Many of our customers opt for this service so they end up with a cooker that not only works better but also looks 'like new'.

We restore original castings and re-enamel as new in one of the 65 colours we offer.

Why Blake & Bull?

How are our conversions different?

Electric is all we do

Individually our technicians are all among the most experienced with Electrickit and eControl Aga cookers. It's all they do day in and day out. No oil, no gas, no solid fuel.

Collectively our experience is unparalleled. We share lessons across the team every day. This means more jobs completed perfectly first time and far far fewer follow ups and warranty calls.

Big enough, not too big

We are big enough, some 30 odd team members, to always have someone nearby in a pinch, but small enough that you'll get to know everyone at the office quickly!

Clever, secure systems

Boring? Yes. But crucial. We've invested time and money into our technology. We'll know who you are when you email 4 years from now. We'll call back even if you don't leave a message. We record every piece of information for future reference. We think long term. You'll notice one day!

After we've visited your home

We'll still be here. A question about roasting temperatures? Call and speak to Matthew directly. Hotplate not working properly? Fill out our form and Bradley, our dedicated warranty technician, will visit.

We'd like you to shop with us for decades, you are more important than any single installation or conversion. Thats why your warranty is with us directly. One number to ring.

Proof of results

No one else has a reputation like ours. You can be certain of the quality of the cooker and service. There are no shortcuts. It is simply consistent hard work, over many many years, to make people happy.

No subcontractors

Every one of our engineers and wider team works directly for, and was trained by, Blake & Bull. This is the ONLY reason we can offer our quality guarantee and up to 5 year warranty.

We do it ourselves

We make our own upgrade parts. Like door and lid liners of tough stainless steel. We have our own shot blast plant for cast iron restoration. We have our own cast iron storage, heated and humidity controlled, to make sure your parts reach you in perfect condition. We build, test and develop. We control the quality of every part of our cookers directly.

How you do one thing

Is how you do everything. We own good vans that won't let us, or you, down. Our showroom is beautiful. Our team are well paid and well trained. Every aspect of the business is as good as we can make it. We are never satisfied but always proud.

Converting Aga cookers FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Can oil Aga cookers be converted to electric?

Converting an oil Aga cooker to electric is very much possible, its the most common conversion we do! Compared to electric Aga cookers oil Aga cookers are less reliable, more expensive to run, dozens of times more polluting and simply don't cook as well (they cool down rapidly when you start cooking!). On top of all that oil is nasty stuff and a 4 oven cooker is burning 80 wine bottles worth a week. There is literally a puddle of it inside your cooker! Here is the BP safety data sheet for domestic heating oil. It's 14 pages long. It is a category 2 carcinogen and category 1 aspiration hazard among many other things.

Can gas Aga cookers be converted to electric?

Gas cookers are the second most common we convert. Increasingly hard to source parts for (the gas valve issue is still not resolved) gas cookers are polluting, require legally mandated servicing every year and bring highly flammable gas and flames into your kitchen.

Can 13amp single element electric Aga cookers be converted again?

Yes we convert 13amp cookers, whether factory bought from AGA Rangemaster Ltd or converted! 13amp cookers, using a single element to heat the whole cooker, are the most expensive to run. Converting to a modern multi element electric system has the fastest payback of any Aga cooker type (including oil) and revolutionises the experience of owning one of these cookers. Single element Aga cookers cost £3,000-4,000 a year to run, you can reduce this to £1,000 approx if you use it like Matthew (Blake & Bull founder).

Do electric converted Aga cookers still need a flue?

Converted Aga cookers do not need a flue, there are no longer any harmful gases created like CO (carbon monoxide) that need to be safely removed from your kitchen. We can, if the Aga cooker is not being moved, vent the ovens into the base of the flue but more often we room vent converted cookers. This maintains the converted cookers efficiency (no cold air is introduced to the cooker) and means the flue can be blocked or even removed entirely if you prefer.

"Worried about coming down to a cold kitchen on frosty mornings? My cooker goes off after supper but cools slowly keeping the kitchen warm into the morning AND drying a load of washing. It goes back on when I make my morning coffee. It's ready for baking in a couple of hours and keeps the ground floor of my house warm all day. A cold conventional cooker it is not!
